I saw this Influence Map thingy some serious months ago and i instantly thought "hey, that could really become helpful when i'm on a bad straw and i need a fast restart", but now that i finally did it... i'm not so sure it will really work.
A couple of omissis from the image are Frezzato and Moebius, but only because of missing space and lazyness of mine.
Original meme by: Download the template from here.
Not sure if you're talking about the general look of the picture i choose (yup, most of them aren't so happy ) or the real items.
As for the real items: It IS a moodboard... for some reasons, but it isn't for some other. Take "Alien" and "Warhammer Fantasy" for example: i put them in because they are my reference Sci-Fi and Fantasy universes, and i always take inspiration from them when i'm creating something. While it's true that my mood constantly swap between sci-fi and fantasy their "place" never changes.
Other squares -like Madureira, Sadamoto and Miyazaki- are there for a different reason. The first 2 are my main reference drawing styles for almost everything, Miyazaki is for backgrounds, James Hawkings for mechanical things, and those are my inspirational focal points from years now, so they aren't affected to change because of my mood.
By the way... your icon here's becoming more and more outdated. And now that i think about it, so is mine :/
